Why do I need a web site?

A web site is one of the most affordable ways to provide information, products, and services to millions of people. It is a lot less expensive than ads, brochures, flyers, TV and radio commercials. Your web page will be viewed worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A web site can help your business attract new customers, enhance your reputation, allow you to learn more about your customers, and complement your print and radio advertising.

Is it expensive to be on the web?

Compared with other methods of advertising it is extremely good value with minimal ongoing costs, and the added advantage that it can be updated quickly and cheaply.

How much will it cost to get a web site?

The cost will depend on your web site requirements which are unique and specific to each customer. More information on costs is available on the Rates page. How long does it take to develop a web site?

The development time is dependent on the size and complexity of the web site. A sample layout can usually be developed within 3-5 working days, and once approved your site could be completed and be at the sign-off stage within one week. This, of course, is relying on site content being available in a digital format.

What type of information should I include in my web site?

While there is no such thing as a typical small business web site, you may find the following scenario helpful:

A small business home page comprising of an introductory paragraph, one or two graphics/photographs, company logo, links to other pages within your site, and copyright information. Second level pages within the site may consist of product catalogues, services offered, business contact details, newsletters, staff profiles, press releases, and an e-mail feedback and/or order form.

Why should Loopydog Web Design make my site?

Web design and development is not only an artistic skill, there are numerous technical skills required in order to produce a more functional web site. Loopydog Web Design will use these skills to create a site unique to your business, not copied from a library of existing web page templates. We can either design your site based on your preferred layout, or we can create an original layout for you if you're not sure where to start.

What if I don't live in Lower Hutt, Wellington, or even New Zealand?

It doesn't matter. We will provide our services to you at the same low prices no matter where in New Zealand (or the world) you are!

What is necessary to publish my finished site on the Internet?

You will need to register your domain name, find a web hosting service to house your web site, and then transfer your finished site to their server. Loopydog Web Design can complete all, or some, of these requirements depending on your needs.

How do I know if my domain name is still available?

Availability of domain names can be checked online - at Domainz for .nz domain names, and at Register.com for other domain names.

How can I keep my web site up to date?

Loopydog Web Design offers a Web Site Maintenance Service, so we can quickly update or create new pages based on your instructions. Alternatively, you may wish to allocate the task of maintaining the web site to an internal staff member, we can provide one-on-one training to your staff guiding them through this process.
